Sue Nicholson passed away after a lengthy illness on December 6, 2017. She was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on February 13, 1936. Sue moved to the Pensacola area as a child and lived here throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alton F. and Anna Ree Harden Oliver and her beloved brother, Herbert L. Oliver, Sr. She was blessed with three children, daughter Cindy Foote and husband David, son Fred Nicholson and wife Jackie, and son Ron Nicholson and wife Lori. She also had five grandchildren, Jenny Enderlin, Aaron Foote, Laura Bacon, Andrew Foote, and Christopher Nicholson and four great-grandchildren, Lainey, Bethany, Noah, and Oliver. Survivors include her sisters Peggy Brock and her husband Julian, Mary Ross and her husband Dan, and her brother Ben Oliver as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her Church family at First United Methodist and her Adult Bible Sunday School Class. Miss Sue enjoyed her years traveling and working with B.E. & K. Construction Co. as well as employment with Mansfield Industrial Services. She always said that construction people are some of the finest people you’ll ever meet. Local history kept her busy after her retirement. She volunteered at the Historic Village giving tours and served on the board and as president of the Pensacola Heritage Foundation. She was also very active at her church First United Methodist and particularly enjoyed helping with the “Feed the Hungry Program.” Burial services are private. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Wesley Wachob officiating. At Grandmother’s request there will be a fish fry in the Wright Place following the service. Flowers are welcome as well as donations to the “Feed the Hungry Program” at First United Methodist. WATERS & HIBBERT FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
