Words are hard to describe Robert Akers. He touched so many lives through teaching for over 40 years, coaching, church work and talking sports. He also managed being a devoted husband to Karen for almost 45 years and father to Ashley, He may have been my brother-in-law when he joined our family, but I have long since dropped the "in-law" from his relationship to me. I have thought of him as my brother. And though we were not raised by the same parents, for all intents and purposes, you are my third brother. RIP God Speed.

Karen and family,
We just want you to know how much we will miss Robert and while we hurt for you and ourselves, we rejoice for Robert that his pain is over and his real life has begun.

I can't tell you how many times I asked him for his keys. It was too many times to count. He never was impatient with me. I also enjoyed many a Wednesday night talking to him in the lobby about any number of things (sports, music, etc.) We never had a conversation without enjoying a good laugh about something! He will be sorely missed. Please know that we are praying for you and that we hold you dear to our hearts.

Much love, Scottie, Amy, Eli and Seth Ray

I will truly miss Robert! I use to see him sit on the back porch and just enjoy the fresh air. He was such a wonderful man and such a good neighbor. We have been neighbors for years and even though I did not visit that often, Robert and you, Karen, were very special to me, in so many ways. I pray that Robert is at peace now and out of all pain, enjoying the face of the Lord and being with his family. My love and sympathy are with all of the family. Much love to all of you!!
