Nina Georgiades Dickson, born Ourania, left this world the same way she entered: An Angel.

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above, And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven's Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, And told me "Welcome Home." So when tomorrow starts without me, Don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'm right there in your heart.

Born on the "veranda of the Aegean Sea" as we like to call the mother earth, our village Glossa located in the western part of the island of Skopelos in the Northern Sporades group of islands. Up there on the beautiful slope of the island, she saw the first light of her life, there she was embraced by motherly and paternal love, there she felt the light and gentle caress of the Aegean breeze.

Nina lived with contagious joy that inspired all.

She immigrated to this country in 1948, married, and raised a beautiful family.

Nina’s proudest achievement was obtaining her Certificate of Naturalization and becoming a US citizen on May 5th, 1955. Whereby, she led the trail for her two brothers, George and John, to follow to the United States.

At the center of her world was her family and faith. She was blessed with a long life and good health.
Nina lived a full life complete with annual trips to her homeland Greece, for which she loved dearly. And at the first opportunity she had, she returned to her parents and her sister Victoria, whom she loved so much, throughout her entire life.

Nina shared an extra-special bond with her sister-in-law Marianna Polles. They would talk late every night about their favorite Greek soap operas and shows on the Greek Channel, as well as share a lifetime of love and friendship like sisters.

In a loving comparison, she has fondly been referred to as the Sophia Loren of the Greek community. Her internal beauty far exceeded her external beauty. She was a friend to many, and her door was always open for a meal or just conversation. Big Yiayia, as she was lovingly called by her great-grandchildren, will always be remembered for her cooking breakfast or loukoumades (Greek donuts), for their early morning visits.
Nina lead her life of 90 years with exuberant living, loving her family, and a dedicated life in the Greek Orthodox faith. She will always be remembered as a Greek jewel dancing on the stars of her Greek family and community.

Nina was preceded in death by her father Constantinos Georgiades and mother Marianthe Antoniou, and her beloved husband Constantine John Dickson, her brother, George Georgiades, and nephew, Constantine G. Georgiades.

She is survived by her daughters Marianthe Brown (Skip), Mahi “Sissy” Watson (Andy), Cleopatra Makris, Georgine Burt Ericsson (John) and son George Theodorakos. Brother John Georgiades and sister Victoria Maroulis (Efthimios).Sister-in-Law Marianna Polles. Grandsons Angelo Alexakos (Chrissy), Brandon Watson (Denzil) Constantine Alexakos (Leigh), George Makris (Leigh), Robert L. Dickson Jr. (Jennifer), George Fulton Dickson (Patricia), John Robert Dickson. Granddaughters Angela Watson Gatzmeyer (Kyle), Nina Frank (Luke), Isabella Theodorakos, Alexandra Dickson Gray (James). Great Grandsons Joshua Andrew White, Dimitri Makris, Alexios Alexakos, Samuel Frank, Charles Frank, Charles Augustus Alexakos, Henry Constantine Gray, Raphael Edward Gray, George Patrick Dickson, Benjamin Dickson.
