LaBerne Hostetter O’Connell Kelson, 93 of Pensacola passed away at her residence February 24, 2018. Laberne was born to parents Bert Hostetter and Mary Lillian McDonald Hostetter on December 24, 1924 Mrs. Kelson was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved to fish and throw the cast net. Her most favorite hobby was reading. She was the best seafood gumbo maker in the whole world. Her iced tea was the best. Her favorite saying was “ I love you a bushel and peck and a hug around the neck”. LaBerne was a graduate of Sacred Heart School of Nursing, Pensacola, Florida Class of 1947. Before attending nursing school she worked briefly at Eglin Air Force Base as a Rosie Riveter during World War II. Her last position was a Operating Room Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. We have been told she ruled the roost and kept everyone on their toes in the Operating Room. She was preceded in death by her Husbands: Joseph O’Connell and CM Kelson. Daughter: JoAnne Lynn and Grandson: Ronnie Lynn. Siblings: Jean Edwards Meenan, Albert Hostetter and Martha Broshar. Mrs. Kelson is survived by her daughters, Donna O’Connell Rowell and Jeannie O”Connell King. Grandchildren Keia Jansky(Matt), Joe King, Caity King McLachlan(Jesse). One great grandchild Elliot Jansky. Many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank her loving caregiver, Kathy Redmon. She has become a part of our family and loved mom as her own. Thank you so much. Services will be held February 28, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9:00 am and Mass at 10:00 am. Interment will Follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Emerald Coast Hospice or your favorite charity in Mrs. Kelson’s name. Waters & Hibbert Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
