Pensacola, FL - Jim Doyal, born at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, on July 30, 1941, died on November 10, 2017, in Pensacola, Florida.   A graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, Jim selflessly represented his country as a radio communications Airman in the United States Air Force where he served two tours during the War in Vietnam.  Following his military service, he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration at Northwestern State University.  His strong accounting skills and entrepreneurial interests led him into corporate positions in the oil industry and then into franchise partnerships with Arby’s.  He especially valued being able to work, learn, and serve alongside friends and family, including longtime friends John Fox, Bunny Langston, and the late John Langston.   Jim married his college sweetheart, Norma  Helen Daly, in 1969, and welcomed their first child Stacy Elise the following year.  Sons Patrick James and Greg Adam joined the family in 1972 and 1979; all three children provided Jim with ample opportunity to share his wisdom and experience through numerous pep talks, the examples he set in both business and family life, and the ever-popular, yet loving, advice to “bow up” when times were tough.  His love of reading also influenced his children and grandchildren to value and promote education and lifelong learning.  He and Norma enjoyed their recent years in retirement together on the beautiful beaches of Perdido Key.   Jim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Norma Daly Doyal; daughter, Stacy Doyal Hunt and husband, Chris, of Monroe, LA; son Patrick Doyal and wife, Samantha, of Shreveport; son Greg Doyal and wife, Lisa, of Shreveport; grandchildren Aaron, Ethan, Catherine, Elisabeth, Emma, Collin, Carter, and Hayden; sister Shirlene Alexander and husband, Don, of Shreveport; and a wealth of talented nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Imogene Doyal, and his brother, Ronald. The family wishes to thank the staff at Covenant Care and the ICU at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL, for their benevolent care of their “Pops” in his final days.  Also, the family would like to give special thanks to Talis and John Jayme for their loving support of Jim and Norma.   There will be a private memorial service arranged for Jim.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to support groups for disabled veterans, diabetes research, or the charity of choice.   “If I could save time in a bottle The first thing that I’d like to do   Is to save every day   ‘Til eternity passes away   Just to spend them with you...” WATERS & HIBBERT FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements .
